3 Things to Look for in Bathroom Laundry Hampers

When you look at suitable laundry hampers for your bathroom, you may focus on colour and style to start with. You want a hamper that fits in with your room's colour scheme and décor.
However, it's also a good idea to think about features that could make your laundry hamper as useful as it can be in this particular room. What should you look out for?
1. Protection Against Moisture
Bathrooms are often humid and steamy. While you may not think about where this moisture goes once you leave the room after a shower or bath, it can affect items like hampers.
If your hamper isn't resistant to moisture, then the environment in the room may damage its materials. For example, they may get mouldy or warp after they've been in the room for a while.
In some cases, moisture may seep into the hamper and make the towels and clothes inside damp. This may make them, and your bathroom, smell.
So it's worth looking for hampers that can withstand a bathroom environment. Linings that help keep hamper contents dry are also a good idea.
2. Separate Compartments
Some laundry hampers just have one compartment. You simply chuck everything in the hamper at once. This does mean that you'll have to sort everything out when you do your laundry. Wet items, like towels, will also make other contents, like clothes, wet in the hamper.
If you have space for a bigger hamper, then buying one with multiple compartments is worth a thought. For example, if you have two compartments, then you can put towels and wash cloths in one side and clothes in the other. Or you can split your coloured and white washes into separate areas.
3. Easy Carry Features
While you can just take stuff out of your laundry hamper when you're doing a wash, you may end up trailing dropped clothes and towels behind you. Taking the whole hamper down to your washing machine may make more sense, but this can a bit of a chore.
Things get easier if you buy a hamper with handles. This makes it more manageable to carry. To make things even simpler, you can buy hampers with removable linings. Here, the lining acts like a bag that you simply pull out and use to carry stuff to your washer.
So as well as looking at colour, size and styles, remember to investigate other useful features as you shortlist laundry hampers for your bathroom.
