Your Bathroom Style Guide for 2021

Posted on: 13 August 2020

When it comes to bathroom renovations, there are always things which are going in and out of fashion. In some years, glitz and glamour are the on-trend way to handle bathroom designs and, at other times, greater simplicity is what is regarded as chic by many. If you are planning on getting some bathroom renovators in to install a new suite for you, then what are the likely style trends to be looking out for in 2021 and beyond? Read on to find out.

Sustainable Materials

Nearly everyone in Australia appreciates just how delicate the environment can be, these days. As such, fitting your bathroom with tropical hardwoods, for example, is likely to be a no go in the future. However, there are plenty of sustainable alternatives. For example, bathroom remodelling projects which will involve taking down walls and replacing them with a new configuration can be carried out entirely from softwood frames and sustainable plasterboard. There's no need to opt for a hardwood flooring system either, even though these feel great underfoot. Sustainable bamboo is just as good and offers the same warmth.

Going for Gold

It won't just be the Gold Coast in Australia where golden finishing touches are the on-trend things to have in your bathroom in 2021. All over the world, design bloggers are already saying that gold fixtures and fittings will be the vogue soon. Bathtub surrounds, taps, towel rails and even the trim around your bathroom mirrors will look the height of fashion if they are gold. Of course, you don't need everything to be gold-plated, but probably, the appearance of shimmering metal will soon make many bathroom renovations stand out from the crowd.

Light Touches

All bathroom renovations should consider the amount of natural light that will be able to come into the room. This is something that has been a concern for remodelling projects for some time, especially in smaller bathrooms and en-suites where the area can feel cramped without enough light. Bathroom renovations should include skylights when increasing the size of the window is impractical. Where artificial light needs to be used, it should be recessed or hidden so that it can augment — not replace — the available natural sunlight. This will mean backlighting and even fitting LED control gear to adjust the intensity of electric lights to match the desired amount of light in the room no matter how much is available from outside.

Changing Your Home To A Modern Look

There is nothing more exciting than renovating a home. However, when the home is still decorated with paisley wallpaper and orange tiles of the 1960s, then you have a whole lot of work ahead of you. I recently undertook a renovation task of mammoth proportions as I wanted to drag my nana's property into the latest century. My blog is designed to help other homeowners who have a massive modernization task ahead. Not only will I post about what's trending in modern looks, but I'll also post about behind the scenes factors you need to check like old wiring and plumbing. You can turn a shagadelic orange residence into a gleaming finish of chrome and light, you just need to know where to start.
